If you've tried marketing before, you've probably heard yourself say one of these:
- "We boosted a few posts and got likes from people in other provinces."
- "The agency sends a monthly report full of impressions. I want to know how many jobs it brought in."
- "Google Ads spent the budget on people searching for jobs at companies like mine."
- "I asked ChatGPT for a recommendation in my trade and it named my competitor."
Marketing that can't be traced to a phone call or a booked job is just spending. We don't run it that way.
What good marketing looks like
You know what one customer is worth to you. You know how much you can afford to pay to get one. Every ad sends people to a page built for that one offer. Every call and form is counted and lands in a system that follows up fast. And once a week you see the numbers that matter: leads, booked jobs, cost per job.
Ottawa adds its own wrinkles. Demand swings hard with the seasons: roofing, landscaping and decks surge in spring, snow-removal and furnace work book up in the fall, accountants peak before April. Federal departments spend toward their fiscal year-end in March. And a big part of the region thinks and searches in French. Good campaigns plan around all of that instead of running the same ad all year.
How we run it
1. Start with the maths. Our customer value and ad budget calculator works out what a customer is worth and what a sensible test budget looks like. If the numbers don't work, we tell you before you spend a dollar.
2. Pick the right channel for the job. Google search catches people already looking: "septic pumping Stittsville," "emergency plumber Gloucester." Meta (Facebook and Instagram) suits things people choose with their eyes or over time: kitchens, clinics, courses, restaurants. We explain the trade-off in Google Ads or Facebook Ads for a local business.
3. Tight targeting. We set your service area to the neighbourhoods you actually drive to, exclude job seekers and freebie hunters, and run French ads for Gatineau and the east end where it pays off.
4. One offer, one landing page. Sending ads to your homepage wastes money. Each campaign gets a page with one message and one next step. Our prompt for a landing page for one offer shows the structure.
5. Track to the sale, not the click. Call tracking, form tracking and, where possible, sending "this lead became a customer" back to Google and Meta so their systems learn who your real buyers are.
6. SEO and AI-search visibility. Paid ads stop when the budget stops. Alongside them we build the long-term side: service and area pages, a well-kept Google Business Profile, steady reviews, and clear answers that AI assistants pick up and cite. Read is SEO worth it for a small business for realistic timelines.
7. Social that uses real work. Your job photos and real customer questions, not stock images and slogans.
8. Weekly numbers, then push what works. Cut what doesn't produce jobs, put more behind what does.
The rules we follow
Retargeting pixels and email or text campaigns come with Canadian rules. We set up consent and unsubscribe handling to meet CASL for any commercial messages, follow PIPEDA for the data you collect, and add the cookie consent and privacy notices Quebec's Law 25 expects when you advertise to Gatineau and the rest of Quebec.
Why one team makes the ads work harder
The usual set-up: an ad agency runs the campaigns, a web designer owns the landing page, and someone else set up the CRM. When leads go quiet, everyone points at everyone else.
At 1 Club the people buying your ads also built the landing page and the follow-up system. If the ad dashboard says "plenty of leads" and your sales team says "they were all junk," we can open both sides and see why. If the landing page is slow, we fix it the same day instead of filing a ticket with another company. And because we manage your domain and website too, tracking is set up properly instead of broken by the next site update.
We did the website, ads and CRM for JDS Earthworks, the website and lead generation for Noble Stone Flooring, and the website and funnels for Dahan Center.
Three ways to start
1. Free, on your own. Use the customer value calculator, then our prompts to write Facebook and Instagram ad copy or plan a small Google Ads campaign that doesn't waste money.
2. Done with you. We set up the account structure, tracking and landing page; you run the day-to-day with a short weekly check-in from us.
3. Done for you. We plan, build, run and report every week. You see leads and booked jobs, and you decide where to push.
